Critical Care Intensivist

Oregon Lung Specialists, a private practice pulmonary, critical care and sleep medicine group is seeking full-time intensivists to join their intensivist team. The operational success of this established 24/7 intensivist program has created the need for expanded services and increased manpower. Qualified candidates will be Board Eligible/Board Certified in Critical Care Medicine. (A hybrid model of combined pulmonary critical care is available to interested candidates.)

Model

This established group consists of 13 physicians, 2 advanced practice providers, and 2 hospitalists, provide pulmonary, critical and sleep medicine services at Sacred Heart Medical Center at Riverbend, a 400-bed regional Medical Center/Level II trauma center.

The intensivist team provides 24/7 Intensivist Services for 46-beds in a 12-bed medical ICU, 22-bed surgical ICU, and 12-bed intermediate care unit.

The day ICU shift is from 8am to 8pm, with coverage provided by three intensivists and 3 APP’s and is supported by an on-call pulmonary/critical care physician.

The night shift is from 8pm to 8am, staffed by two intensivists and an on-call pulmonary/critical care physician.

Facilities

Sacred Heart Medical Center is a 400-bed regional Medical Center/Level II trauma center, and is part of PeaceHealth, a 9-hospital system. Sacred Heart employs approximately 2,000 people and serves an 8-county region. The facility features 24/7 intensivist coverage for 46 total medical/surgical ICU beds, inpatient pulmonary medicine, and a sleep lab. Additional medical services include a heart and vascular institute, a cardiac rehabilitation unit, a surgery department that sees approximately 17,000 cases annually, a Level II Emergency Department (appx. 50,000 annual patients), imaging services (CT, MRI, CR, ultrasound), a sports rehabilitation clinic, and stroke services.

Location

Springfield, Oregon is a community located in West-Central Oregon and is part of the greater Eugene-Springfield metropolitan area, the third largest metropolitan area in the state. Historically a natural resource-dependent region, Springfield is now a major provider of healthcare services. The city of Eugene, nicknamed “The Emerald City,” is known for its extensive arts community and outdoor recreation. The region also features affordable housing and highly ranked public school systems. By car, the region is accessible via the I-5 corridor from the North and South; and Oregon Route 126 from the East and West. The area is served by the Eugene Airport, which offers daily service to and from most major destinations in the Western U.S.

Compensation

Physicians are employed by a private practice physician group. The intensivist salary is guaranteed and is based on a competitive per-shift rate for ICU shifts. Employment is complemented by a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, malpractice, CME allowance.
